  • Political Colds

Since government bureaucrats can't handle a budget, and proved themselves abominable at waging war in Vietnam, let's let them legislate our health care too so that they can kill us all softly.

Too bad Great Britain has already shown us the bad side.

Let's think about this though. You don't have to pay for health care when you walk in the door. You just pay your higher taxes. But are you really wanting the care they provide? Personally, I'd be happy to keep paying someone to help me stay healthy, rather pay someone to legislate the doctor into letting me die.

    Cause Change. Think for yourself.

The government scares me to death. That whole thing about making Veteran's private insurance companies pay for medical care for injuries sustained in combat? Obama says it will save the nation $500 M. But it makes me angry.

I am terrified of gov-run and gov-sponsored health care.  While it's expensive to fund private insurance, I'd rather keep more income and choose where to spend it.  If they would only ELIMINATE ANY health care for illegal aliens, the whole system would be less expensive...

Bear in mind, though, that private health care only happens if you're rich enough to afford the insurance. And there are many who aren't.

Personally, I'm glad for the British government-run national health service, and I'm glad to know it's there for me even if I'm not loaded. I know it's far from perfect, but then show me a health system that is.

@africantomato - Here in the US, private health care is the only thing available unless you are very poor, and that coverage is terrible. It gives the individual control over how much care they get or don't. For the average middle class American, health care is expensive, but it can be done. The only reason why people push for government controlled health care here is because they think it will make it cheaper. In reality, it will only make it more expensive for the individual, unless they settle for the government coverage which is expected to remain terrible.

The other aspect is for the medical staff. They have a tough enough job already. Adding in working for the US government, and all the bureaucracy and you will kill the medical field. The economic implications alone of this are enormous.
